Level 2-3 Linux Engineer, Dediserve Limited - Belfast Office

This position is at our Belfast, Northern Ireland offices

Primary Location: Ormeau Gasworks, Belfast
Working Hours: Permanent, 09:00->17:30 Monday through Friday. Rotating on-call cover.
Salary: remuneration based on experience
Travel: Occasional, current valid passport required

Essential Knowledge and Experience

- Minimum of 5 years experience in an IT environment
- Minimum of 3 years Linux experience (RHEL, Fedora, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian etc)
- Proven track record of dealing with customer enquiries
- Expert knowledge of Linux operating systems
- Ability to establish an affective team, work under pressure and problem solving skills
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work in a small team
- Previous experience in physical server deployments (cabling, OS installation etc)
- Previous customer facing ticket based helpdesk experience
- General understanding of networking and TCP/IP
- Ability to influence peers

Desired Knowledge & Experience

- Cisco CCNA qualification or experience dealing with Layer 2/Layer 3 switches
- Experience with HP technologies such as iLO, BladeSystem, FlexConnect
- Experience with CPanel, Plesk, DNS, Apache, MySQL, Nginx, iptables
- Windows Server & Microsoft technology experience (ASP, IIS, SQL, AD)
- Computer science or other relative industry qualification
- Storage technologies: ReadyNAS, NetAPP, iSCSI/NFS/CIFS/WGET
- Experience in Javascript, HTML, XML, PHP & Shell
- Real world Xen/VMWare or KVM, experience
- Microsoft licensing experience
- Previous on-call experience
- Microsoft Certified

Job Role

- You will help deploy, maintain and manage our cloud platforms, including Blades, Servers, NetAPP SAN and Cisco Networking

- You will handle escalated tickets from the front line support team to resolution and interface with customers where required

- You will work to improve user experience and automation of management of systems through scripting, coding and innovation

- You will respond to alerts and issues out of hours on an on-call basis

- Troubleshoot HP servers, HP blades, Cisco switches, Linux & Windows virtual machines

- Responsible for the real time monitoring of all hardware and software applications on a variety of operating systems across multiple datacenter sites using enterprise management applications such as OPManager, Munin and Cacti, diagnosing and repairing any faults that may arise.
